High School Completion
The High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) is a series of five exams in the core content areas. Each of the five subtests in the HiSET exam is scored on a scale of 1–20. In order to pass you must do all three of the following:
- achieve a score of at least 8 on each of the five individual subtests
- score at least 2 out of 6 on the essay portion of the writing test
- have a total combined score on all five subtests of at least 45
This varies with each individual. We develop a learning plan with each student to help them prepare for the HiSET.
The HiSET is free for Maine residents. You must provide proof of Maine residency. For non-residents, the fee is $45 per subtest, there are a total of 5 tests.
Please contact our office at 207-767-3266 ext. 3834, or email adulted@spsdme.org. We will schedule an appointment with you to discuss your learning goals and to create a learning plan. You can enroll at any time.
